Asylum Seekers

So when does the Australian Government say "enough is enough"...

We have had Asylum Seeker boats come through our waters forever now, and Australia has increasingly become a dumping ground for refugees which I have to pay for.

Here's today's latest news on the subject. Tasmania already has enough problems with unemployment.

Lets add to their woes...

Choices

If you had say $10K to spend, would you:

a) Renovate your laundry
b) Put a decking in the backyard
c) Buy a weekender van which is a 5 minute walk to the Surf Beach and Lake in Gerroa

I am at the crossroads of what to do.

Ideally, I want them all. Realistically I can have one.

Another Iconic Australian Company sold

http://www.news.com.au/business/your-business/lion-swallows-little-creatures-for-380m/story-fn9evb64-1226400661838

Another Aussie Company, indeed another beer company at that, have been sold to foreign investors.

Little Creatures, one of my favourite brews have been sold to Lion of Japan.

With Fairfax Media cutting 1900 jobs, Ford & Holden shedding staff, the banks cutting thousands of jobs, and a wave of "skilled workers" flooding this country, the notion of Permanent employment will be a thing of the past in 10 years time.

Green Card 2014

So, I'm seriously thinking of applying for the Green Card Diversity Lottery this year.
After successfully applying & being accepted in 2008, in hindsight I regret not taking up the opportunity.

Ice Hockey - NHL - Stanley Cup

Sitting here watching the the LA Kings vs New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Finals.

There really is no other sport quite like it, and no other sport which appears to be virtually absent of Prima Donna' s unlike soccer, NFL & NRL..

Its a tough sport. A sport where they try to disrobe from their protective wear to beat each other, and an exciting sport to watch...

Harley X likes this (insert that "other mainstream social media site" "thumbs up here"...

Signing off. Harley X. Thursday 7th June 2012....

The Grass is always Greener...

This Friday, we are fare-welling a colleague.

"T" is heading back to Seattle after 2 stints out in Australia over a 2 year period.

At a farewell lunch today we were talking about what she has enjoyed, what her most memorable moments were, what she missed out on this trip, etc etc..

"T" was saying how terribly sad she will be leaving here on Friday & heading back to Seattle to resume her life. She very much doubts she will be returning to Australia due to Visa restrictions.

She said that Australia was the best country she has ever visited and like so many others before her, would give anything to live here permanently.

As I have been to the U.S on many occasions over the last 18 years, I was thinking the same thing about the U.S, and the opportunity to relocate there permanently (and legally) in 2008.

In the eyes of many, I guess I'm very lucky...
